This is a crafts space for Cambridge creatives, specifically aimed at sharing skills, networking and collaborating to support and elevate the Cambridge drag scene. Queer creatives of various disciplines are encouraged to come along!
FOR DRAG ARTISTS // This is a relaxed space for drag artists to bring along ideas they would like to see realised. Is there a part of an act that you need help with? A dance move you're not sure how to pull off, a piece of kit you're having trouble with, a bit of an act you're not sure how to fill between reveals - we'll come up with ideas together using the skills, experience and knowledge available in the room on how you can bring your concept to life.
FOR OTHER QUEER CREATIVES // Folks with crafting skills in costuming or propmaking, theatre skills in performance, dance, singers, photographers, graphic design - a lot of different skills go into making a drag act, and into putting a show together! If you're not a performer yourself but are a fan of drag with a creative skill to contribute we'd love to have you along.
You can also use the space to work on a project without receiving advice or input from other attendees, but everyone is encouraged to bring something to be working on.
SWAP // Sometimes you have a cool piece of kit, or left over craft supplies, unopened makeup, or even a plain tee you don't wear anymore that would be easy to customise...and you could take it to the charity shop, but you'd prefer for it to go into the hands of a fellow creative (Justa's house is full of these things) - there will be a space set up in the studio for you to put a couple of Cool Things*, and rummage for Cool Things* in return.
When bringing things, be considerate of folks and make sure the items you bring to swap are clean as they can be.
