Private viewing on Saturday, March 16th 6PM
This series of paintings is developed from sketches done on the south coast of Cornwall over many years. The work explores the spatial and rhythmic structures that exist because of the interaction between the rock and the continual erosion caused by the sea. Working in black and white gives the work a calligraphic expression which by not involving colour concentrates on the inherent movement.
The 6 double panels were originally 12 single works but by selecting and sometimes rotating them were paired to give a panoramic and dynamic link between sympathetic structures.
All works are oil stick and charcoal on plywood.
100cm x 160cm.
All are priced at £1000.00

Life Among Beams: Paintings & Drawings by Ben Varney
IN THE HIVE
An experimental approach to painting, using landscapes and assembled graphics, and pushing them into dissolution; testing their potentials and testing the techniques applied. Picking through art history and mass media and observation for objects to flatten and obscure. Messing with perspective and dimensions, and exploring the poetics of texture. All works are on paper.
Private viewing Friday 24th February, 5.00 to 9.00pm
Varney studied Culture and Media in Bristol, moved to London and took a keen interest in drawing, worked with dancers and theatre makers and moved on to teaching drawing for a spell. He has lived in Cambridge for nine years now, enjoying the landscapes, medieval paintings and poetry of the area.

Cats of the World: Paintings by Rebecca A. Mitchell
IN THE MEZZANINE GALLERY
The Cats of the World Series, which portrays world cat breeds in traditional (often regal) attire of their countries of origin, was a natural convergence of the artist’s love of both cats and traditional costumes. The series is constantly growing, and Dogs of the World are coming soon!

Copies of one of his two books published books year are available to view & purchase along with a collection of photographs of his experimental theatre work with desperate optimists & time-based collaborative & solo art/text/object installation pieces.'
Original: Paintings by Jamie Ashman
Looking to project a vision of peace and love on the planet as a cultural trend, the ethos of Jamie’s paintings is resurrected from the Hippy era yet dressed up in contemporary (but never fast!) Fashion. With a bias towards the conservation of the natural world, his works are evolving to represent an imagined blue print of the Earth as a beautiful garden, where humans and nature live together in harmony.
